The fancy car thief Zigis goes stealing again, and an incidental opera performance viewer becomes the victim. Zigis does his job perfectly, but the delivery of the vehicle is halted by Zoja, who has fallen down near her house and is now on the road, laying there, helplessly mumbling. An unwilling offering of first aid takes Zigis to a house surrounded by trees, where, between passion and secrets, everyone tries to gain more than lose.

Yearning to get pregnant, Vacationer takes a break in the Bahamas, but as she recounts the jam-packed days of her trip to her supportive friend Love, it's evident she was too busy to even lie down. Talker spins a convoluted rant about being interrupted as Edgewise, her audience, tries to get a word in. Sleepwalker gets more done after midnight than most people do all day. Her friend Relater is sure she empathizes until Interjector throws in her two cents. Though all of the women are not aware of it, they are most busy during moments carved out for rest, all too busy living to have lives.

Berlin, after a radical political change. During an intermission in a performance of Hedda Gabler, the star, Liv Halstrøm, gets an unexpected visitor. A prosecuted journalist hides in her dressing room. Within the 10 minutes break the actress will make a life changing decision.
